This was taken just hours before my life was forever changed.

My family and close friends gathered in the hospital.

First time doing PT and rehab at home.

My son Colin was my biggest helper during physical therapy.

Left side neglect! It was so hard to pucker up for my facial exercises.

Climbing became an outlet and a recovery tool.

My family was always so supportive during my rock climbing exercises.

It became a family experience for us.

My face-strengthening exercises. They were exhausting!

Strengthening my facial muscles became a daily routine.

2014 was a long winter with so many snow days. My son, Colin, and I laid on the floor to draw and talk. It was the best winter with him; just being together while it snowed outside was exactly what I needed.

I lived in my robe and PJs all winter long.

My first big outing was to a New Year's Eve birthday bash for my dear friend Capucine. I worked hard for two months straight so that I could have the stamina to go to this important celebration.

New Year's Eve. My face still wasn't fully back. You can see that my mouth is low on one side.

I did the stroke walk with the Yale - New Haven Neurology team. I’m here with my Dr. Caitlin Looms.

I worked hard to get this far!

This was the day after my first run while on a family vacation in Italy. We're with my dad to celebrate his 70th birthday!

Yale Hospital Neurology Department. I took this picture after the last rounds of tests in March. I swore that I would never see this sign again.

Going back to work was not easy, but having wonderful clients, made my return easy.

Swimming became another great tool in my recovery
